'KWSG has Implemented National Minimum Wage' - KWSG
The Kwara State Government has denied a report in a national daily that Kwara is one of the states yet to implement the N18,000 National Minimum wage.
In a statement signed by its Press Secretary, Alhaji Abdulfatah Dan Kazeem, the office of the State Head of Service explained that Kwara State started the payment of the N18,000 minimum wage on August 1, 2011 under an agreement between the State Government and the trade unions.
The statement affirmed that the report linking the State Government with non-implementation of the national minimum wage was embarrassing, untrue and unfair to the State Government and is capable of inciting labour against government.
It noted that the state government enjoys a harmonious relationship with all trade unions in the state as a result of its labour-friendly disposition.
The State Government stressed that it remains unwavering in its friendly disposition to labour as it will continue to ensure regular and prompt payment of workers' salaries, training and retraining of workers as well as access to various forms of loan facilities.
