Kwara Govt equips Offa General Hospital with modern lab machines
•To deploy more doctors, nurses to facility
The Kwara State Government has equipped the General Hospital in Offa with modern laboratory machines.
The new machines were delivered to the health facility by the Kwara State Hospital Management Board (KW-HMB).
They include Hematology Analyzer, Hormonal Profile Analyzer and Electrolyte Analyzer.
The machines are poised to improve service delivery at the health facility.
The health workers who would handle these machines were also trained by the hospital management board during the visit.
“Patients no longer have to travel to Ilorin from Offa to conduct these tests,” Executive Secretary, KW-HMB, Dr. Abdulraheem Malik said.
He added: “We will continue to equip and staff General Hospital Offa until we meet the healthcare service delivery needs of the Offa community and its environs.”
The Executive Secretary noted that they have a standing approval from Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to immediately replace doctors, pharmacists and nurses who leave the services of the state.
He also disclosed that additional doctors and nurses would be deployed to Offa General Hospital.
“We are actively recruiting these professionals. General Hospital Offa will be getting 4 additional doctors as requested by the CMD to add to the 6 presently covering the hospital and 15 additional nurses to add to the 35 nurses presently working. That makes 10 doctors and 50 nurses.
“We are also aware of the manpower shortages in other health worker cadres and working on closing the gaps in those departments too as soon as possible,” he said.
