Civil-Servants Yet to Resume Work after Two Days Holiday

Date: 2012-12-29

Following the two days Christmas holiday, some civil servants are yet to resume work in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital.

Some available workers who spoke with Royal FM correspondent, Olarotimi Oshin in the city said that most of the workers who had travelled for the celebration to different parts of the country were still enjoying the excitement of the festivity at their various locations.

It would be recalled that the Federal Government gave a two-day public holiday for the celebration of Christmas but a visit to the Kwara state secretariat shows that workers were yet to resume their duty as the secretariat was scanty.

A Civil servant, who preferred anonymity at the State Secretariat located along Offa Road, said the situation has become a normal practice in the country as indolence remains habit of civil servant, adding that the attitude remain natural as workers usually take advantage of this to visit their families and loved ones.

According to our correspondent, all effort to speak with the Head of Service, Alhaji Labaraku Mohammed proved abortive.
