PDP Kwara Replies ACN on Accusation of Appellate Session of Bias
The Peoples Democratic Party view the alleged bias by the Appellate Session of the High Court sitting in Kwara over Offa Council Chairmanship Election by Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in our favour as an unguarded outburst and unpatriotic claim by a party yearning for Leadership.
According to a statement by Alh. Mas'ud Adebimpe, Publicity Secretary, Peoples Democratic Party, the PDP has absolute confidence in the ability of the Panel to do justice and not in any way in doubt in the sincerity of the membership as presently constituted.
The Composition as claimed by ACN was a misinformation to deceive the unsuspecting public. As an interested party the session was properly constituted as provided for by the law and they should disregard the unpatriotic and unfounded claim.
To put the record straight the Panel was not only properly constituted but was made up of three eminent judges whose credibility and ability were not in any way doubtful.
The third Member, Justice E.B Muhammad, while not holding brief for the panel, in our investigation was confirmed through the authority concerned to have travelled out of the country for an urgent Medical Checkup.
The Law, however does not prescribe a quorum that disqualifies the two Judges from sitting and continue hearing of the case if the third member was not available.
As a party we challenge ACN to show where the Law prescribes the disqualification of the session on the ground of a member who legally absent from the session.
The ACN should for once learn to be truthful and honest in making public remarks rather than twisting facts to mislead and deceive the unsuspecting public all in the name of playing politics.
It's a known fact in the public domain that the Executive Council and all notable members of ACN in Offa local Government have publicly denounced their Membership of the party and declared the party dead and joined PDP the reason for this propaganda by ACN.
The Mass Media widely reported this as well as the recent fracas which further polarised them along Ethic line, the party should shut up from crying foul where non exist.
The time has come when ACN should face the reality rather than blaming any arms of the society for its unending woes, as far as we are concerned the ACN should allow the Judiciary to carry out its Constitutional role without any distraction.
