Kwara Aim for Festival Football Gold
Head Coach of Kwara men's football team to Eko 2012, Mashood Adebayo has said to supersport.com that his wards would win gold at the multi-sports fiesta in Lagos.
The 18th National Sports Festival is expected to commence on November 27 to December 9 this year.
Adebayo expressed optimism after his boys condemned the University of Ilorin men's team to a 4-1 defeat on Thursday.
Oluwole Adebisi netted a hat-trick in the 24th, 35th and 60th minute while Abu Suleiman scored the fourth goal in the 75th minute of the duel decided at the Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin.
Jazhe Olamide scored the consolation goal for the University of Ilorin at the death.
"My boys have played well and kudos to them for their display against the university boys.
"We are going to Lagos to fight for the gold medal as I have gathered 18 players from all local government in the state and we would prove to Nigerians the stuff we are made of in Lagos," he said.
The ABS' assistant coach stressed that his rookies are not scared of any opposition they would face from other men's football teams.
"We are not afraid of any state at the festival, my boys are young and they are talented to face any foes that come their way," Adebayo explained to supersport.com.
Kwara will storm Lagos with 116 athletes and they are expected to participate in 15 events.
