Afonja Warriors Set Lofty Goal

Date: 2012-11-16

Kwara United attacking midfielder, Bala Zakkah has said his side will not miss the league shield in the coming 2012/2013 league season.

The Afonja Warriors headed back to their llorin base on Thursday after a two-week pre-season tour of Abeokuta and Sagamu in Ogun State.

Zakkah said the tour has put their minds in good shape to challenge for the title when league hostilities start.

"Everything went perfectly well at the camp, the trainings and warm-up matches. It afforded us the rare opportunity to interact with the new manager, Samson Unuanel.

"We're one united family and a common goal to win the league title as well as the Federation Cup shield.

"I'll say emphatically that we won't miss out at the league title next season. We're in the best shape and frame of mind. We eagerly want league action to commence immediately," he said to supersport.com.

The former Ranchers Bees playmaker said he has decided to stay with the llorin-based side in the coming season.

"I'm with Kwara United for the 2012/2013 season. I shunned overtures from other clubs to make sure we stand at the podium at the end of the season as champions," he said.

Kwara United finished last season under coach Tunde Sanni with 53 points from 36 matches though considered unsatisfactory by the management and the reason Unuanel is handed the plum job.
