Kwara Govt Presents N83.6bn Revised Budget

Date: 2012-11-08

The Kwara state government has presented N83. 6 billion, being 2012 Revised/Supplementary budget to House of Assembly for consideration and approval.

This, was against the total budget size of N91.3 billion, earlier approved this year by the state Assembly.

Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed said the revised budget represented a nine per cent from the approved 2012 budget of the government.

This was contained in a letter dated October 23, 2012, and entitled, "Presentation of Revised/Supplementary Budget Estimates 2012 for Legislative Approval."

The letter said the approved recurrent revenue was N60,852,675,730, but with the review exercise, it now stands at N52, 640,273,711, which, according to the letter, represents 14 per cent decrease from the earlier approved estimates..

Meanwhile, the bill scaled through first reading yesterday at the state House of Assembly.

The motion for the first reading of the bill was moved by the deputy majority leader of the House, Alhaji Saadu Tanke and seconded by the member representing Lanwa Ejindogari constituency, Hajia Raliat Adifa.

Clerk of the House, Mr. Oyetunde Oyeniyi, later read the bill for the first time.

Speaker, Barr Rasaq Atunwa, directed the Business and Rules Committee to expedite action on the passage of the bill.
