Moral decadence cause of violent crimes in Nigeria, say Kwara govt, CAN

Date: 2021-07-05

KWARA state government, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the state police command have attributed rising crime rate and other security challenges plaguing Nigeria to moral degeneracy in the society.

The trio said this in Ilorin, Kwara state capital at the official unveiling of 'Bible Stars TV Show.

Kwara State Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi represented by Environment Commissioner, Mrs. Remilekun Banire said the programme "is coming at a time the country is in dire need of it."

Spokesperson of the state police command Ajayi Okasanmi said that the programme would help in driving crime and criminality out of Nigeria.

Mr. Okasanmi added that "I am happy that the programme is happening this time. It will help drive out crime in the society. It is a very welcome progress that the organisers will put something scriptural and edifying on the screen for the youths to watch."

The state CAN Chairman, Most Rev Paul Olawoore on his part "sees the programme as a proclamation of the kingdom of God here on earth."
