Gure community lauds Kwara gov for repairing damaged culvert

Date: 2020-06-26

The Gure community in Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara has lauded Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq for repairing a box culvert that was damaged about 20 years ago.

The culvert links the Gure community with its neighbouring communities.

Malam ldris Hamidu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Leader in the area, made the commendation on Thursday when the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Mr Yakubu Danladi, led some legislators on an inspection of the culvert on Thursday.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the visit of the lawmakers was in continuation of its oversight function to ongoing projects being executed across the three senatorial districts of the state by AdulRasaq's administration.

Hamidu, who spoke on behalf of the community at the project site while receiving the legislators, said the governor had put an evergreen structure in place in Gure by rehabilitating the culvert.

"The repair of the box culvert which had cut off the community for over two decades will now improve the economic and social activities of the residents.

"The Sumaku river, where the culvert lies, has caused a lot of havoc to form erosion on an annual basis to residents of the area."

He said that the people of Kwara North would continue to support and be loyal to the administration of AbdulRazaq.

He also applauded the speaker and other lawmakers in the state assembly for their sacrifice and hard work toward delivering the dividends of democracy to the nooks and crannies of the state.

The President of Gure Development Association, Malam Sule Bio-Saidu, also commended the state government for providing potable water as well as constructing and rehabilitating roads in the area.

Other projects inspected by the lawmakers in Baruten local government area included rehabilitation of vandalised 33KVA electric cable at Ilesha-Chikanda, the proposed FM Station at Okuta, motorised boreholes at Boriya and Shiya, among others.
