Kwara Government says no to religious crisis

The Kwara State Deputy Governor, Mr Kayode Alabi says the present administration will not give room for evil machinations to cause religious crisis in the state.

Mr Alabi stated this at the inauguration and induction of new Executive Council of the State Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN held at the St Joseph Catholic Cathedral in Ilorin.

The Deputy Governor explained that Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has given directive from the on set to ensure that no religion is marginalised in the state in order to achieve peaceful coexistence.

He called for prayers from the men of God for divine guidance for Andulrahaman Abdulrazaq administration as he noted that majority of people who take pleasure in feeding on public money would not want the government to succeed.

Mr Alabi pledged that the present administration would be fair to all and ensure religious harmony in the State. He added that infrastructural development would be given priority to make life comfortable for the people stating that bursary could be access with no stress unlike the practice in the past.

The Deputy Governor called on Clergymen to preach love and undiluted word of God to ensure peace and stability in the State.

He congratulated the new Executives calling on them to co-operate with the Government in the task of building an egalitarian society.

The representative of the CAN President, Reverend Stephen Adegbite who inaugurated the new executives commended the peaceful conduct of the election and the smooth transition describing it as one of the best in the Country.

Reverend Adegbite who is the Director, National Issues and Social Welfare CAN headquarters also commended the State government for its support and described the Deputy Governor as a worthy ambassador.

The Cleric charged the new CAN executives to be above board and work for the success of the Association. In his remarks, the Immediate Past CAN Chairman in the State, Professor Timothy Opoola who was represented by his Vice, Reverend Father Anthony Atoyebi highlighted some of their achievements and charged the new Executives to build on it.

The New Chairman, Most Reverend Paul Adegboyega Olawoore thanked God for the lives of those He had used to pilot the affairs of the association in the past pledging to build on their achievements.

Reverend Olawoore assured the government of the unflinching support of the Christians body in the State to ensure success of the present administration.

He called on Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq to be a leader to all, foster unity and peace amongst the people of the State.

Reverend Olawoore also requested the government to create a Theological Board for Christians to help treat theological issues.
