Kwara Moves to Check Building Collapse
The Executive Secretary of TPDA, Mr Raimi Adeoti, disclosed this in Ilorin that the directive was aimed at preventing building collapse in the state.
"The authority has mapped out a strategy that makes it compulsory for every builder to report to TPDA at different stages of building.
"It has also introduced a computer system that will allow easy access to all processed and approved building plans.
"Every building will undergo three stages, that is scanning of document, certificate of document and certificate of completion.
"It is compulsory for every house builder to report to us at foundation, window and roofing levels," he said.
He also said that the authority had embarked on computerisation of its operations, adding that every building document would be stored in the organisation's data base.
"The process will afford us the ample opportunity to easily access any document and verify its authenticity unlike in the past when we spend hours searching for a document in a heap of files," he said.
He said the computerisation process would cover Ilorin and five local government areas in Kwara Central Senatorial District under the pilot scheme while other councils would be captured later.
Adeoti commended the state government for giving TPDA support in the development of the state's master plan.
