Date: 2019-03-20

The Speaker of Kwara House of Assembly, Dr Ali Ahmad, has described the late Etsu Patigi, Alhaji Ibrahim Chatta Umar, as a detribalised Nigerian who used his position to unite the state.

In a condolence message signed on Wednesday in Ilorin by his Special Assistant on Media, Shuaib Abdulkadir, Ahmad recalled with nostalgia several opportunities he had to rub minds with the foremost monarch on state issues.

The speaker said that the monarch died at a time his services, experience and words of wisdom were still very much required toward building Kwara as an enviable state.

He noted that the deceased, who until his demise was the vice chairman of Kwara State Council of Traditional Rulers served diligently.

Ahmad expressed regrets at the death of the monarch, saying he would be greatly missed by his subjects, the traditional council and the state at large.

He stressed that the monarch's peaceful reign brought tremendous improvement and development to the ancient Nupe town of Patigi.

Ahmad condoled with Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, Patigi Local Government, Patigi Emirate Council and the immediate family of the deceased. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the late monarch, who ruled for 19 years and 10 months, died at the age of 69 during a brief illness and was buried in Patigi on Wednesday.
