NPFL: Rangers vow to beat Kwara United

Date: 2018-04-14

Norbert Okolie, the Enugu Rangers spokesperson says the club is not taking its forthcoming Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match against Kwara United for granted.

Rangers will on Sunday, April 15 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium welcome Kwara United in the Match Day 16 of the season.

Okolie said on Friday in Enugu that the players know that Kwara Utd would come fighting like wounded lions owing to their mid-week draw with Enyimba FC.

"Kwara's position at the league is not encouraging and they will like to get at least a draw from us which I believe will elude them on Sunday.

We do not want to slip again at home because our home points are precious to us and this prompted us to swing into training on Tuesday after arriving Enugu on Monday evening.

Although Kwara is occupying bottom of the league at the moment, that does not mean they are not a good side, but just that luck was not on their side.

Besides, they are a bunch of young players who has little knowledge of the premier league, so their problem may be inexperience," he said.

"Okolie called on Rangers players to put behind them their 0-I defeat in the hands of Niger Tornadoes and focus on their upcoming matches of the season.

That we lost our last match to Tornadoes does not mean that we cannot get an away victory in our last match against FC Ifeanyiuba before the end of the first stanza of the league.

Gone are the days of must home win syndrome; we are at the high esteem in the country and thank God that the referees are helping matters with good officiating.

Clubs now come away with victory as if they are playing at home and that shows how fast the league is growing," he added.

He urged the League Management Company (LMC) to always beef up match venues with security, saying that lack or inadequate security at match venues affected decisions of referees.

Okolie also called on the club supporters to come out en mass to cheer Rangers to victory, promising that they will enjoy their ticket fee and stay.

He praised them for their maximum support to the club in their 3-0 demolition of Yobe Desert Stars in the NPFL Match Day 15.
