70 political groups form alliance to 'rescue Kwara'

Date: 2018-02-27

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, a total of 70 youth groups have formed an alliance to wrest power from the ruling political establishment in the state.

The Kwara Rescue Alliance (KRA) alleged that the political establishment was taking the state backwards.

Unveiling the group in Ilorin shortly after its inaugural meeting, its Coordinator and Secretary, Abdulsalam Ibrahim and Abdulrasaq Hamzat, said the group would serve as one voice for the youths of the state to chat a common front for their future.

According to Ibrahim, the youths decided to form an alliance because those enthroned by the political establishment in the state "have repeatedly failed the people."

He said the youths were determined "to mastermind a paradigm shift through a united opposition to bring about genuine political change in the state."

Also speaking, Hamzat said members of the group who were drawn from across all divides had "shunned overtures by some members of the ruling political class" to lure them to their side with the ulterior motive to cow them.
