Belgore's Support Group Hits Back at Orisun Igbomina

Date: 2012-08-27

Mohammed Dele Belgore Solidarity Team (MDBST) has hit back at Orisun Igbomina over claim that opposition parties, especially the ACN, are dead in Kwara State.

Orisun Igbomina President Gbenga Awoyale had on Saturday in an online media claimed that Kwara does not have any functional opposition party, singling out Belgore for allegedly not staying put in Kwara as opposition leader.

But MDBST Coordinator, Tunji Ajanaku, retorted in a statement on Sunday that Awoyale would be forgiven for his warped understanding of politics because he's grown accustomed to amala political ideology where politicians sit around engaging in idle talks without any productive endeavours. Ajanaku said Belgore, a senior advocate, is an accomplished lawyer whose venture into politics as a professionbal was to join the decades-long call for positive change in Kwara.

Ajanaku said Belgore remains a practising lawyer even as he coordinates people's yearning for a good and responsible government in Kwara. He said Awoyale's understanding of politics as a full-time job explains why the country is being milked dry by politicians who have no known source of income after politics.

The statement reads: "We are compelled to respond to the idle group of hungry politicians and busy bodies calling themselves Orisun Igbomina. But we are quick to make a clear distinction between this group of boot-lickers and the Egbe Omo Ibile Igbomina which is an association of hardworking and illustrious Igbomina sons and daughters worldwide. "The former's President, one Gbenga Awoyale, was quoted in an online paper as saying that opposition parties especially ACN are dead in Kwara State. Such a claim belongs in the category of those made by their paymasters who now turn around to blame their incompetence and tumbling rating on the opposition which they claim does not exist. Whilst we concede this double speak to this opportunistic group and its sponsors, we pick holes in its definition of what opposition is. Its President believes that opposition party leaders must sit perpetually in Kwara State playing politics to be recognised as opposition leaders.

"We are not surprised at this definition because it forms the core of their amala political ideology. No wonder their leader and sponsor is a medical doctor not known for any success in his profession but is notorious for having supervised a crumbled business remembered only for leaving millions of Nigerians dejected after ceaseless rape! Our leaders especially MD Belgore SAN is a professional in politics who co-run one of Nigeria's most successful law firms with good record abroad. He is in politics to lead a crusade for a Kwara redeemed from claws of corruption, bad governance and opportunism orchestrated by no other persons than the sponsors of this shameless Orisun Igbomina.

"Whether they like it or not, Kwara people are seeing the light and sooner than these shameless saboteurs think our dear state will be free. Our leaders are not jobless people who wait to rape people's resources. While they continue to coordinate opposition to the misrule and poor governance in the state and strategise for enthronement of people-oriented government back home, our leaders would continue to work as professionals.

"Leaders Kwara needs at this stage are tested managers of men and resources with independent source of income, not some economic parasites not known for any success at their calling."
