Date: 2018-01-15

A member of the governing council of the School of Nursing, Oke-Ode in Kwara state, Doctor IBRAHIM GAMBARI has appealed to the state government to establish a school of Midwifery in Oke -Ode considering the structures and facilities in the community.

Similarly , he urged the Nursing Council to give its full backing for the establishment of the institution.

Doctor Gambari who is also the former Senior Special Assistant to the state government on Secondary and tertiary Health, made the plea in Ilorin the state while answering questions on a Radio Kwara programme, "Health Half Hour".

According to him , the institution is doing well in terms of training of nurses stating that it has already been accredited by the Nursing Council of Nigeria.

The medical practitioner who is the Proprietor of Khadijat Memorial Hospital, at Sango and Lao in Ilorin urged members of the public to make proper use of mosquito nets that were distributed to them free by the state government and not to keep it at home for fashion and as well keep a very clean environment to avoid mosquito bite which might eventually lead to malaria or yellow fever.

Doctor GAMBARI stressed the need for Kwarans to always participate fully during all environmental sanitation days and described yellow fever as a serious virile infection .

He said with the present findings by the World Health Organization, (WHO) there was no need for one to collect yellow card twice after the initial immunization which according to him , would have ordinarily lasted for ten years but that latest discovery has shown that it could even now last for life.
