Gov Ahmed Advocates Against Greed, Selfishness in Salah Message to Kwarans

Date: 2012-08-17

Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara has identified greed and selfishness as the main causes of Nigeria's socio-political and security problems.

Ahmed made the statement in his sallah message to residents of the state in Ilorin on Thursday.

He said that if Nigerians demonstrated the compassion and love they showed during the holy month of Ramadan, Nigeria would surmount its numerous challenges.

Ahmed advised Muslims to see the Eid-el-fitri not only as a period for festivity but as one that "connotes deep spiritual devotion and rededication to the values of humility".

The governor appealed to Muslims in the country to inculcate the lessons of the fasting period in their daily lives.

"It is imperative that Muslims remain committed to complete devotion to Allah and uphold fellowship and care for their neighbours beyond the month of Ramadan as enshrined in the Quran and the Hadith of Prophet Mohammed."

The governor thanked the people of Kwara for their support and assured that government would maintain the tempo of development in the state. (NAN)
