Constriction works have commenced on the Afon-Aboto-Oyo state boundary road in the Afon District of ASA Local Government Area, Kwara state.

This road has been a major request of the people Afon District and in fact the entire people of ASA Local Government Area of Kwara state to the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bokula Saraki CON during the 2015 general elections campaign. It is a major Capital Project that is facilitated by the President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki through the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, Abuja in the 2016 financial year budget.

It is a 28.6 km road, one of the longest straight road in Asa Local Government and traverses between Afon to Aboto and terminates at Oloro village that shares boundary with Yakoyo village in Oyo state. It is also a major road that connects directly along its straight alignment, over 15 different villages and communities that are very key to the district's economic activities. These include but not limited to: AFON - ODO ODE - IGBOBIGBIN - BUDO OJOKU - BUDO OMO ALAO - OLODO MEJI - RAUFU - OLOWO OKO - AJAGUSI - ABOTO OJA - IGBO ARAN - OLOMODA - OGINTOYINBO - OLORO - YAKOYO (OYO STATE BOUNDARY) villages. Apart from the existing villages along the road alignment as mentioned here, there are more than 35 other villages that T-off from the main road and which will equally enjoy accessibility to homes when completed. The designed scope of works for the road construction includes: Construction of (0.6 by 0.6)m concrete drainage system at the both sides of the road throughout its length, scarifying of the existing but damaged surface dressed pavement and provision for 7.3m double layer asphalt pavement with 2.7m road shoulders at the both sides of the road.

It is worthy to mention here the importance of the construction of this road to both commercial activities within the district and its potential to improve on all Agricultural and other industrial activities within the district.
