Iloffa/Odo-Owa Clashes : Kwara Assembly commends KWSG, Security Agencies for prompt response

Date: 2017-07-06

The Kwara State House of Assembly has commended the state Government and security agents for the proactiveness displayed in curtailing loss of lives and property, occasioned by the Ilofa/Odo Owa feud in Oke Ero LGA of the state.

The House made this observation in Ilorin, following personal explanation raised by a member representing Oke-Ero Constituency Hon. Victoria Bunmi Afolayan on the recent communal clash between the two communities.

Reading the resolutions of the House, the Speaker, Dr. Ali Ahmad who said no meaningful development could be attained in an atmosphere of rancur and acrimony, said the state government and the security agencies in the state had helped significantly in restoring normalcy and expressed confidence that the recommendations of the Judicial Panel Enquiry instituted by the state government would find enduring solutions to both remote and immediate causes of the communal feud.

Dr. Ali Ahmad then urged the affected communities to cooperate with the Panel of Enquiry by allowing peace to reign, in their domains.

Meanwhile, the state Governor Alh.Abdulfatah Ahmed has forwarded two bills International Aviation College Bill 2017 and State Road Traffic Management Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2017, to the House for passage into law.

The bills according to the Speaker seek to bring about orderliness, serenity and restore sanity in traffic culture and a law to serve as guide and direction for the International Aviation College to ensure that the college is better placed with a wide scope or coverage and participation of the Aviation Industry.

The Speaker praised the legislators, staff and the media for their commitment towards ensuring that the House provides the needed platform for good governance in the state.
