Brain Builders International to Take the #NotTooYoungToRun Train to Kwara

Date: 2017-05-09

In furtherance of advocacy efforts towards the promulgation of the Not Too Young to Run Bill by the National Assembly, there will be an *Awareness Walk in Kwara State on Tuesday, 16 May 2017.*

*The Point of Convergence is New Yidi Roundabout, Ilorin* whence we shall be proceeding to the *Kwara State House of Assembly* to lobby the Lawmakers. This rally is borne out of the understanding that one of the defining moments in the history of our great country is when we became comfortable with the democratic dispensation that we demanded that the age of eligibility be reduced to accommodate younger people.

To strengthen the campaign, a bill was sponsored and it is now at committee stage at the two national legislative chambers. Young people came together from all political parties, all tribes and religions to make a decision. After the many deliberations, public debates were held in all states and the turnout and responses showed that never in the history of Nigeria has any idea gotten such a massive support.

It is worthy of note that the walk is *not an anti-government rally or protest.* It is rather a way of peacefully engaging and lobbying lawmakers for support towards the bill. Lobbying elected representatives is standard practice over the world and the organisation coordinating the walk, Brain Builders International has a track record of non-partisan advocacy and community development. The current State of world affairs has shown the world what young people can do.The success of President Buhari's tenure cannot be divorced from his inclusion of young technocrats in his cabinet.

France has also elected a 39 years old President, setting a precedent that will hopefully sweep the entire world in the coming years. By the same token, for four years, a 45-year old, Justin Trudeau, has been running Canada very successfully. We humbly request that Civil Society Organisations and individuals who are interested in participating in the walk coordinate themselves with utmost civility and dignity so as to further reiterate the fact that we are not too young to run.

To join this historic movement, kindly send your full name and this code (KW/NTYTR/referral) to either 08138563786 or 08170379990 e.g. Olasupo Abideen Opeyemi KW/NTYTR/OPE to 08138563786 or 08170379990.
