Economic recession: Ex-PDP Kwara guber aspirant tasks labour

Date: 2017-05-03

As economic downturn persists, a former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State in the 2015 general elections, Alhaji Akeem Lawal, has urged the organized labour to initiate workable ideas to rescue the country from the doldrums.

Lawal, who spoke to Journalists on the commemoration of Workers' Day celebration, said there was no denying the fact that the country was at crossroads with the current recession.

He stated that the organized labour must remain resolute in its course to bringing the country out of the wood.

The former PDP governorship aspirant applauded the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) and other affiliated unions for their perseverance and understanding during this hard time.

Lawal, however, advised the government to always put the plights of workers first and recompense them as soon as economic situation in the country improves.

He felicitated with the labour union on this year's Workers Day celebration and expressed the hope that the country would be restored on the path of economic prosperity.
