Kwara to promote local products patronage

Date: 2017-02-23

The Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, on Thursday pledged stronger support for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in order to create more jobs and stimulate the economy.

Ahmed gave the commitment while visiting stands of exhibitors at the ongoing MSME Clinic in Ilorin, sponsored by the Office of the Vice President.

Visibly impressed by the ingenuity of the MSMEs and the quality of their products, Ahmed said the government would support them through patronage and capacity building.

The governor bought a pair of leather sandals made by Offa-based Itelle Shoes, business with an annual turn over of N2.5m and several employees.

Ahmed said the sandals and other shoes made by Itelle Shoes can compare with any imported brand.

The governor was also informed that Kwara state Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS) has ordered Ankara PC Covers, made by another MSME from Kwara State.
