Okada Riders Back Govt. on New Uniform

Date: 2012-07-31

The Kwara State Association of Commercial Motorcyclists,  popularly known as Okada Riders, has pledged to support the slate government on the new uniform introduced for its members.

The state Secretary of the association, Mr. Muritala Yusuf, in an exclusive interview with The Herald at the weekend, said the union has decided to deal with members who fail to comply with the government directive.

Yusuf explained that the new uniform introduced in the state would assist in fishing out miscreants who disguise to perpetrate crime in the state.

The secretary, while appealing to the government on the deadline for the procurement of the uniform, assured that the union would always support the government in its bid to rid the state of criminals.

The association however appealed to the government to have a rethink on its decision to ban their operation in selected areas within the state capital.

"We have been assisting government and the security agencies in the state to maintain peace. We also ensure that the society is free from all forms of criminal activities and we will continue in that regard," he said.

He appealed to the police and other security agencies in the state to always invite the association any time a suspect is arrested committing crime with okada for the purpose of proper identification.
