The Deputy Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Mathew Okedare has on Saturday being turbanned as the Jagaban of Okuta in Baruten Local Government Area of the State by the Emir, Alhaji Idris Abubakar Shero Kperogi Afoni.

The turbanning, which coincided with the Community Gani annual festival had in attendance various traditional chiefs, title holders in Okuta as well members of the Kwara State House of Assembly and All Progressives Congress stakeholders in the state.

Speaking shortly after the programme, the Emir described Okedare as a worthy ambassador of the state, saying that his overall achievements in politics speaks volume and portray his personality.

Explaining the rationale behind his selection, the monarch explained that the deputy speaker was considered for the honour due to his commitment and dedication to the people's welfare.

Noting that Okedare is a detribalised Nigerian and treat every individual that comes his way with respect irrespective of religion affinity, he maintained that Okuta community is very proud to associate with him.

According to him, Hon. Mathew Okedare's ability and capability in public service has never been in doubt. He is a man of integrity and his personality always speaks volume wherever he found himself. Being a grassroot, we are very proud of him and his philanthropist nature.

Earlier in their separate interviews, the House Leader, Hon. Hassan Oyeleke and Hon. Adamu Usman expressed the House appreciation to the Emir, noting that it would have great impact on all members of the House.

The lawmakers who acknowledged the honouree's leadership qualities said as one of the Principal Officers in the House, he commands respect of every members in the House.

The duo maintained that the honour goes a long way to demonstrate the peoples love for the 8th Assembly, adding that the House would continue to be on the people's side and support policies that would enhance their well-being.

Responding, the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Matthew Okedare appreciated the Emir and the community for the honour, pledging to further contribute immensely to the development his immediate community as well as Okuta Community.
