KWSG Spends 45.8% of N5b Paris Club Refund On Salaries

Date: 2016-12-28

With the release of an additional N400m to local government councils to enable them pay December salary in full, the Kwara State government has now spent N2.290b representing 45.8 per cent of the N5b Paris Club refund it received from the Federal Government.

In a statement issued via its Facebook page on Saturday, the State government said with this development, it has complied with the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari that states should use 25 percent of their London-Paris Club refund to pay salary arrears.

The State government had earlier released N1billion to the local councils and another N890million approved for the payment of outstanding salary arrears of staff of tertiary institutions in the State.

The statement noted that following yesterday's release of an additional N400million, the Kwara State government has used a total of N2.290billion out of the N5billion it received as its share of the London-Paris club refund on salary payment.
