KWHA Says it will not relent in serving as Checks and Balances to Other Arms of Government

The Kwara State House of Assembly says it will not renage in its Constitutional responsibility of serving as Check and balances to other arms of government.

The Chairman House Committee on Information, Social Development, Tourism, Youth,Sports and Culture, Hon Saheed Popoola gave the assurance in Ilorin, during the Committee's Interactive Session with the Media on the weekly activities of the House.

Hon. Popoola who described the Legislature as the conscience of the People, said the law makers would continue to be supportive of the State government in its bid to make life more meaningful for the People, but insisted that, it would be done in accordance with the Constitution.

He praised the the Speaker, Dr. Ali Ahmad for creating enabling environment for them to demonstrate their vibrancy and assured that the House would continue to sustain its vibrancy to further make democracy more meaningful to the People of the State.

Speaking on the achievements of the 8th Legislature since its inauguration, a Member of the Committee, Hon Abdul Rafiu Abdul Rahman said the House had passed Bills and resolutions that had impacted positively on the lives of the People of the State.

In her remark, a female member of the Committee, Hon. Victoria Bunmi Afolayan, said the House would intensify its oversight functions on the Transition Implementation Committee in all the Local Government Councils in the State, to make the third tier of government responsive to the yearnings of the People at the grassroot.

Speaking on the State's Community Health Insurance Scheme Bill just passed into law by the House, the Chairman House Committee on Health and Environment, Hon. Ahmed Ibn Mohammed disclosed that the House passed the amended bill into law, to make scheme sustainable, affordable and accessible to the entire People of the State.

He assured that the House would not relent in ensuring the proper implementation of the law, to achieve quality health care services across the State.
