Kwara schools free from cultism - Onimago

Date: 2012-07-26

Kwara Schools are free from cultism and illegal clubs, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Alhaji Saka Onimago, has assured.

Onimago, in a chat with newsmen in Ilorin, said colleges and universities in the state have been warned to improve on security on their campuses.

He explained that the institutions have been asked to set up surveillance teams around their premises and outside the schools for students living off campus.

The Commissioner recalled that Kwara was the first state in Nigeria to introduce a law that is against cultism among students.

In a related development, Onimago promised to shut down illegal and unauthorized schools in the state.

He expressed that this administration is ever ready for proper surveillance of teachers on what to teach and the performance of students in their academics
