Kwara Governor urges Nigerians to engage in sports

Nigerians have been urged to always engage in sporting activities for healthy living and to enhance the nation's productivity.

The Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed gave advice at the opening match of the first Maigida nine-aside Football Competition in Ilorin.

"Health is wealth and I encourage Nigerians to keep their bodies and souls fit through sporting activities," Governor Ahmed said.

He explained that the competition was organised, to encourage participation in sports for healthy living.

In the opening match, Ali-Dodo Team staged a comeback from two goals down to defeat Saraki Team by three goals to two.

Akande Habeeb scored brace and Danladi Ayeme scored a lone goal for Ali-Dodo Team while Awwal and Abubakar Jamiu scored a goal each for Saraki Team.

In the second encounter between Team Kisira and Sola Gold Football Club, the match ended one-nil in favour of Sola Gold Football Club.

The teams are participating in the maiden football competition.
