A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State yesterday pledged allegiance to the Senator Ahmed Makarfi- led national leadership of the party.

A former minister of National Planning, Dr Abubakar Sulyman, who is one of the PDP leaders in the state, made this known at a press conference in Ilorin, the state capital, where he pleaded with Senator Ali Modu Sheriff and his group, to in the spirit of Ramadan, show remorse and join hands with Makarfi to move the party forward.

"We, in Kwara State PDP, under the chairmanship of Prince Sunday Fagbemi, align with our teaming leaders to endorse and support the Makarfi led national caretaker committee. As a matter of fact, we condemn the act of brigandage, shenanigans and nasty behaviour being perpetrated by Sheriff and his co- travellers.

"I have no doubt in my mind that Senator Mohammed Makarfi and other members of the caretaker committee are not only able, capable and respected but also experienced enough to paddle the ship of the party to an enviable state, within the time frame given to it" Sulyman said.

The former minister also affirmed the Prince Sunday Fagbemi- led executives as the authentic leadership of PDP in Kwara state. According to him, "I urge other dissenting members of the PDP in Kwara state to join hands with the Fagbemi led executive to provide the desired opposition in the state."

In his address, the state factional chairman of PDP, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, cautioned the immediate past executives of the party in the state, led by Akogun Iyiola Oyepepo, against what he described as "fanning the ember of discord among party members.
