Anglican Church decries fuel price hike
The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has called on the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to expedite action on the resumption of full oil production in the nation's oil refineries.
The church synod said this in a communique with theme 'Give us this day our daily bread' signed by the Diocesan Bishop of the Anglican Church, Offa, Right Reverend Akintunde Popoola, made available to our correspondent in Ilorin, Kwara State on Saturday.
While lamenting the current hardship of Nigerians, the Anglican Church stated that concerted efforts should be made to address the exorbitant prices of petroleum products.
It commended Buhari on the ongoing anti-corruption war, which he warned against being selective or politicised, and urged the Federal Government to holistically address the challenges in the oil industry to move Nigeria forward.
The synod also called on the Kwara State Government to hand over mission schools to their owners, adding that the state of such schools was worrisome.
Popoola, who is also the president of the synod, said management of the schools had become a burden to the state government due to financial challenges.
