UTME was successful in Kwara, says JAMB Coordinator
The Coordinator of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in Kwara State, Mr. Olusola Taiwo Kuye, has expressed satisfaction with "the level of cooperation by candidates" during the just concluded 2016/2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in the state. The UTME for the 2016 year had started on February 27 and ended on March 14, 2016.
The Coordinator, in an interview with Pilot Education, disclosed that only two candidates were caught cheating during the exercise in the state. He said: "The exercise has been very successful and the level of cooperation of the candidates is high.
"In fact, the Computer Based Test (CBT) has solved most of the problems in terms of examination irregularities. "We only recorded two cases in terms of examination malpractice across the state and the candidates were well behaved all through."
On the challenges of computer literacy, he stressed that if a candidate could operate handset, he or she has no problem in partaking in the examination. He said: "We have discovered that computer literacy is not a problem for the candidates but parents/guardians should ensure that their children/wards embrace this new development called CBT."
He also stated that the total number of candidates that were registered in the state as regards to those who passed and failed was yet to be released by JAMB head office in Abuja.
