Communal clash: Kwara gov promises implementation of report
Kwara State Governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed has given an assurance that the report of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the Share/Tsaragi Communal clash would be thoroughly examined and the recommendations fully implemented as a way of finding lasting solutions to the communal clash.
Governor Ahmed gave this indication yesterday in Ilorin when the Justice Suleiman Akanbi Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the last year's December communal clash submitted its report to him at Government House.
According to the governor "I have no doubt that the recommendations in the report will provide lasting solutions to communal clash between Share/Tsaragi communities and ensure peace in both communities. Let me at this juncture assure you that the commission's report will be thoroughly examined and the recommendations implemented to the fullest".
The governor appealed to the people of Share and Tsaragi to embrace peace, draw strength and inspiration from their diversity to the development of both communities.
He added that the people of both communities should learn from the December 2015 episode and use it to build a more united, peaceful and cohesive society. Gov. Ahmed also urged the people of the state to "continue to exhibit good human relations and forge ahead to achieve prosperity together". The Chairman of the Commission, Justice Suleiman Akanbi said 23 memorada were received from both communities while witnesses were also summoned.
Justice Akanbi said members of the commission also visited the scene of the incident as well as the traditional rulers of the two neighbouring communities. The Chairman said he was confident that if the recommendations of the commission were fully implemented there would be lasting solution to the perennial clash between the people of the two communities.
