Why I returned my December salary to Unilorin - Minister

Date: 2016-01-09

The Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Prof Cladius Daramola, has given reasons why he returned the last month salary to his former employer at Ilorin, Kwara State.

The All Progressives Congress(APC) chieftain in Ondo state was a teacher at the University of Ilorin, Kwara state before he was appointed minister representing the state in the President Muhammadu Buhari's cabinet.

Daramola who spoke on phone yesterday said: "In the spirit of the on-going crusade against corruption and fraudulent acts by President Buhari, I should do everything to support the exercise.

"In my own conviction, I believe taking the December salary from Unilorin which was my last place of work will be tantamount to fraudulent act of receiving double salary; even though I have not received December salary as a minister, but I have to return the money as an agent of change and anti-corruption.

Daramola appreciated Unilorin's management for reposing confidence in him to serve the citadel of learning diligently.

He urged Nigerians to support the present APC administration in tackling corruption that has become endemic in the nation.

He expressed delight that the on-going anti-corruption battle would bring sanity to the country and enhance its economy.

Daramola used the occasion to debunk insinuation that the on-going probe into the alleged misappropriation of arms funds was a clamp down on the opposition members.

He noted that the startling revelation on the probe was too explosive.
