Date: 2015-12-15

Kwara State governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed said on Sunday in Ilorin that he would make Kwara the hub of sports excellence in the country. In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Wahab Oba, the governor said he would achieve this through the reintroduction of school sports for talent discovery. Ahmed promised to carry out full rehabilitation of the indoor sports hall at the state stadium complex in Ilorin for the purpose of making the state hub of sports excellence. The governor added that the state owned football club, Kwara United, would be restructured to enable it regain its Nigeria Premier League slot and rank as one of the best club's in the country.

He described the emergence of Nigeria's Dream Team VI as a heartwarming development that underscores the inherent potentials of Nigerians and passion for excellence in all human endeavours. The governor commended the perseverance and un-succumbing spirit of the Dream Team VI players. Gov Ahmed also commended the technical crew led by Samson Siasia in overcoming all opposition to emerge as African Champions, in spite financial challenges they allegedly had to contend with. The governor also noted that the rebuilding of the Super Eagles would now be enhanced by the discovery of senior team players in the Under 23 team.
