Date: 2015-12-02

Parents and guardians of students at the University of Ilorin have been urged to cultivate the habit of regular visits to the University for the purpose of monitoring the performances and behaviors of their children and wards.

The advice was given by the Dean, Student Affairs, University of Ilorin, Prof. Olubunmi Abayomi Omotesho, while featuring on a weekly Yoruba current affairs programme, 'Oro to n lo', on Unilorin 89.3 FM last Tuesday (November 24, 2015). Pointing out that the University of Ilorin has zero tolerance for all anti-social vices and indecent dressings, Prof. Omotesho stressed the need for collaboration between the parents, guardians as well as the University authority in order to inculcate discipline into the students to make them complete and useful citizens of the country.

The Professor of Agricultural Economics disclosed that the University management has been collaborating with the private developers in order to build more hostel accommodations for students of the institution.

In the area of transportation, the Dean, Student Affairs stated that three luxury buses were procured by the University management to ease the transportation challenges facing the students, adding that plans were in top gear to procure more of such buses.

Prof Omotesho commended the leadership of the Students' Union for sharing the same vision with the University management, a synergy, which he said, had ensured uninterrupted academic calendar in the institution since the past 15 years.
