Academics Blamed for Nigeria's Stunted Growth

Date: 2015-11-20

Nigerian academics should be held responsible for the country's economic woes, ?the Vice Chancellor of Kwara State University Malete, Professor AbdulRasheed Na'Allah, has said.

He made the remarks during the 26th annual colloquium and congress of the Nigerian Association of Mathematical Physics (NAMP), saying academics have failed to engage in meaningful researches that would contribute to economic growth.

He said "academics in Nigeria have failed the nation woefully? because the country has a lot of potentials and resources for the academics to tap for their researches and move the country forward.

It is a shame on us that Nigeria with her abundant resources cannot pay a minute population employed by our universities their salaries? because we have failed in tapping from the advantage and technological advancement available to us and academics must understand that their responsibility is to develop the country to make life better than what it is now for the populace."
