The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali (OON), has congratulated the Emir of Ilorin, HRH Dr. Ibrahim Sulu Gambari (CFR), on his 20th coronation anniversary.

The anniversary, which was marked with a Special Prayer last Wednesday (November 11, 2015) at the Emir's Palace, Ilorin, attracted eminent personalities from all walks of life, including the Unilorin Vice-Chancellor, his Kwara State University, Malete, counterpart, Prof. AbdulRasheed Na'Allah; the Dean, Postgraduate School, University of Ilorin, Prof. Yusuf Lanre Badmus; the President, Ilorin Emirate Descendants' Progressive Union, Alhaji AbdulHamid Adi; the Grand Khadi of Kwara State Shariah Court of Appeal, Justice S. Mohammed, and a former Grand Khadi, Justice Idris Haroon, among others.

Dr. Sulu Gambari, who is also the Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Traditional Rulers and Chancellor of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State, ascended the throne on November 11, 1995 to become the 11th Emir of Ilorin.

In a congratulatory message, a copy of which was made available to Unilorin Bulletin, Prof. Ambali said that the past 20 years of the Emir's reign have "witnessed numerous socio-economic developments in Ilorin city in particular and in Kwara State in general". He added that this has been made possible by Dr. Sulu Gambari's "administrative sagacity and people-friendliness".

The Vice-Chancellor, who extolled the virtues of the Emir, also expressed happiness that Dr. Sulu Gambari's reign has been characterised by "peaceful co-existence of all inhabitants of the Kwara State capital regardless of tribe and creed".
