Legislators recall suspended council chair in Kwara

Date: 2015-10-28

The 13-member legislative council of Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State who suspended the council chairman, Mr. Abdulmaaruf Abdullahi Thanni, for three months over alleged misappropriation of funds has lifted the sanction.

It would be recalled that a recent joint statement signed by nine out of 11 councilors in the local government, presided over by the Speaker, Jolayemi Julius, announced the suspension of the chairman.

But while addressing journalists at the weekend, the speaker said following the intervention of the senatorial chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the issue has been resolved.

"Like I said, it is a family matter and our chairman has intervened in the matter, we therefore rescind our decision to suspend the chairman," Jolayemi said. In his response, the council chairman, Abdullahi Thanni, said he had been discharging his duties well.
