Emir urges IBEDC to restore electricity to Kulende

The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari has directed the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC)to address the problem of electricity challenge facing 28 communities under Kulende IBEDC feeder of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

The Mogaji Nda of Ilorin, Alhaji Saliu Woru Mohammed who represented the Emir at a meeting between the affected 28 communities and the IBEDC held at the Emir's Palace commended the people for their patience for many years with poor electricity supply.

Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari who pledged the commitment of his office to continue to allow peace to reign among the people told the IBEDC to address the problem to allow speedy development.

The Chairman of Joint Community Associations in Kulende Hon Abdulrasheed Bolaji who thanked the Emir for his quick intervention in the matter, assured that the people will continue to be law abiding.

Hon Abdulrasheed at the meeting disclosed that, no fewer than 30 private companies have closed down because of poor electricity.

He added that 'with the magnitude of the numbers of industries that have closed shop in Kulende and its environs, this has created unemployment among the people'.

The development is also affecting the socio – economic growth of the area and the state.

It would be recalled that the affected 28 communities had earlier protested to the Emir, appealing to him to intervene in the problem of electricity of the areas.
