The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali (OON), has commiserated with the Unilorin Branch of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) over the death of its former Chairman, Mr. Akanbi Olayinka Ayodele.

The late Mr. Ayodele, who led the Union between 2007 and 2011, died last Tuesday (August 4, 2015).

In a condolence letter he sent to the NASU Chairperson, Comrade (Mrs.) Olabisi Fadeke Adesina, and signed on his behalf by the Registrar, Mr. E. D. Obafemi, the Vice-Chancellor described the late unionist as a vibrant leader who conducted the affairs of the Union with professionalism.

The Vice-Chancellor pointed out that the late Mr. Ayodele "was a vibrant leader who conducted the affairs of the Union with professionalism, which brought about a conducive industrial relations and harmony between the University authority and the Union during the period of his stewardship between 2007 and 2011".

In a separate condolence letter sent to the late Ayodele's widow, the Vice-Chancellor described the death of Mr. Ayodele as painful.

Prof. Ambali extolled the virtues of the late trade unionist, saying "The late Mr. Ayodele was a hard working and very good member of the University community", adding that "the staff and students who have worked with him will miss the amiable officer."
