The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Dr. Ali Ahmad gave the advice in his Eid- el-Fitr message to Muslim faithful.

Ahmad noted with delight that most Muslims had used the period to move closer to Allah and extended hands of benevolence to the down trodden.

He stressed that when such virtues were sustained after the month of Ramadan the nation’s lost glory would be restored.

The Speaker enjoined Muslim faithful not to use the festival for merry making but to reflect on how the nation could overcome the problem of insecurity, corruption and other issues threatening her corporate existence and impeding her socio- economic and political emancipation.

He equally urged Muslims to use the period to pray for sustained peace and stability of the nation, noting that no nation or society could witness accelerated socio_economic transformation in an atmosphere of rancour and acrimony.

He enjoined Nigerians to always place national interest above parochial consideration in order to make the nation overcome her current challenges.

Ahmad also praised Muslims and Christians in the state for ensuring peaceful co existence and assured that the State House of Assembly under his leadership would continue to legislate on issues that would promote peaceful co-existence and provide platform for the state government to embark on programmes and policies that would enhance the well being of the people of the state.
