Kwara Jubilates for Saraki, Gov Congratulates New Senate President
The ancient city of Ilorin, Kwara state capital, Tuesday witnessed a joyful mood following the emergence of the former governor of the state, Senator Bukola Saraki as the new senate president.
Already, Kwara state governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has joined other well meaning Nigerians to congratulate him.
Ahmed said in a statement issued in Ilorin on Tuesday, signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Dr. Femi Akorede: “On behalf of the government and the people of Kwara state, I congratulate my leader, the new senate president and chairman national assembly.”
The people of the ancient town, spreading across such areas as Oja Oba, Aloore, Idi Ape, Kuntu, Offa Garage, Tanke, Challenge and Unity road trooped out to celebrate their kinsman.
Also included in the jubilation were students of tertiary institutions in the state, civil servants, and artisans, among others.
Some of the residents who spoke with our correspondent said Saraki deserved the seat in view of his wide experiences in the political arena of the country.
They said that, the new senate president remained an epitome of knowledge and exposure that would be useful in making laws that would benefit the masses of the country.
The people however called on the members of the national assembly to forget the intrigues that led to the emergence of new senate president and rally round him so as to move the nation forward.
