Senate Presidency: Saraki Calls On Lawmakers To Focus On Nation Building Not Politics
The Chairman, Senate Committee on Environment, Bukola Saraki, has advised members of the National Assembly to pay less attention to politics or politicking and focus on nation building.
While speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Senator Saraki highlighted building capacity to help President Muhammadu Buhari, achieve all he has promised Nigerians as an important role to take seriously.
The National Assembly had just passed 26 bills into law and Saraki believes that there should be priority bills that should be passed amongst the 26 bills that were just passed.
He added that as a lawmaker, the bills that would be passed should add developmental value in the interest of both the PDP and the APC to help move the country forward.
On reports making the rounds that there are certain criteria for the election of Senate President and House of Reps Speaker, Sen. Saraki said that there is need for such criteria, because merit is important to be able to build and govern the members of the House to work in the right direction.
Senator Saraki also expressed optimism that President Buhari would give the right direction to revamp the country and the new administration will fill the gap of leadership and strong will that was lacking before.
