Kwara State Governor, Dr Bukola Saraki has given a marching order to the contractor handling the Ilorin International Airport Cargo Terminal, Stabilini Visiolini, six weeks within which to complete the project.

Governor Saraki, who gave the order at the weekend during an unscheduled visit to the project site, expressed worry over the delay in the completion of the Cargo Terminal.

He noted with displeasure that the project was staying longer than had earlier anticipated, adding that the State Government would not compromise its speedy completion.

The Cargo Terminal, Saraki explained, is of paramount importance to the State Government, warning that any unnecessary delay on the completion of the project was no longer acceptable.

Dr Saraki, however, appealed to the contractor to speed up work on the completion of the project to meet the new delivery date, pointing out that by "middle of June, the project must be completed and delivered".

Commissioner for Works and Transport, Barrister Rasaq Atunwa, who was on hand to brief the governor, explained that his Ministry had given all necessary support to hasten the completion of the project.

The Site Engineer of the project, Engineer Femi Toyinbo who conducted Dr Saraki round the project, assured that the company would double its efforts to meet up with the completion period.

The Ilorin Cargo Terminal, when completed, is expected to become the first modern cargo terminal in the country with underground World Class facilities to be installed.
