Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kwara State branch, commends Governor Saraki

Date: 2009-07-09

The Kwara State branch of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has commended the State Governor, Dr Bukola Saraki on the manner with which the leadership crisis in the State judiciary was promptly addressed.

In a release issued by the State Secretary of the Association, Reverend Cornelius Fawenu with a copy sent to the Governor, the Association described Dr Saraki’s prompt action and that of the State House of Assembly as worthy of emulation and highly commendable.

The Christian body also condemned in strong terms the unpatriotic action of the former Chief Judge who later broke into her former office two days after a new Acting Chief Judge was sworn-in, adding that it was least expected of a personality of her status.

"We have carefully watched the latest developments in Kwara State Judiciary and wish to submit that the manner the State Governor, His Excellency, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki and the State House of Assembly under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Tunde Mohammed promptly tackled the matter is highly worthy of commendation", the release reads.

The Association, however, called on well meaning Kwarans and Nigerians to support Dr Saraki through prayers over his unbiased and constitutional means of handling the crisis, praying God to grant him the courage to correct all cases of rots in other sectors that may rubbish his administration.

The Christian body also expressed hope that through the governor’s stance on anti-corruption and arbitrary use of power, public officers would henceforth learn to conduct themselves with high level of morality, decorum, equity and justice while in office.
