Press Release: Alleged Plan to victimise Civil Servants: Kwara APC dismisses PDP allegation as false alarm

Date: 2015-05-22

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has assured the people of the state that the APC-led Kwara State government has no plan or mission to victimise civil servants on account of political preferences in the 2015 general elections.

In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Sulyman Buhari, the party ?dismissed the allegation raised by the PDP that Kwara State government plans to victimise civil servants who are perceived loyalists of the PDP as unfounded, untrue and ?a false alarm.

"In as much as, civil servants are Kwarans and they reserve the rights to vote whoever candidate and whichever political party they so desire, It is also clear that civil servants are not politicians and by term of appointment, they lack the right to involve in partisan politics.

"We therefore warn the opposition PDP to desist from its new ploy to politicise the affairs of Kwara State Civil Service

"It is not true that the Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed-led administration plans to victimise any civil servant. The allegation is unfounded, untrue and a mere false alarm.

"The false alarm raised by the traumatised opposition PDP is a failed attempt to cause conundrum and tension in the Civil Service.

"Meanwhile, considering the intent, content and tune of the false alarm raised by the PDP, it is evident the party is yet to recover from post-election trauma.

"For a party in Kwara State that contested for 35 political offices including the Presidency ?in the last general election and lost out on all contests without any substantial votes and suports from Kwarans in an apparent display of unpopularity and unacceptability, the PDP should really be undergoing post-mortem if it were to be a serious party.

"The leadership of the PDP ?should be reminded and cautioned that it has again adopted the same modus operandi of raising false alarm, making inciting statements and instigating the people against the government they freely elected which led to its humiliating defeat in the 2015 general election. The name PDP has become toxic to our people, a reality Mr Oyedepo & co have to face.", the statement read.
