Premier League Round-Up - Sunshine Stars Open 2-Point Gap
Sunshine Stars now enjoy a two-point gap on the Nigeria Premier League table as the Akure Gunners made the most of their home advantage on Wednesday, beating visiting Kwara United by a lone goal in their Week 10 tie at the Akure Township Stadium.
The latest three points secured by Sunshine Stars has taken their tally to 20 points after 10 games played.
In Wednesday's outing, it was Paul Onobi that got the only goal for Sunshine who only last weekend went away to Lafia and forced Nasarawa United to a draw.
Unfortunately, the other two teams hitherto breathing down the neck of Sunshine; Gabros and Wikki could not keep up the pace as they failed to get wins in their respective away games against Kano Pillars and Bayelsa United.
While Gabros slumped to a 2-1 defeat in Kano, Wikki also lost 1-0 to Bayelsa United.
Elsewhere, Lobi Stars finally broke the jinx plaguing them all season as they recorded their first win in this current campaign as they beat Heartland 1-0 in Makurdi.
Enyimba also followed up their away win in Port Harcourt with a convincing 3-1 victory at home over El-Kanemi which has further shot them up on the League standings.
The trio of Dolphins FC, Giwa Fc and Nasarawa United all secured crucial points on the road as the Nigeria Premier League continues to generate more excitements for the neutrals
