Asa LG shares food items to orphans
The Asa Local Government Action Committee on Aids has distributed food items worth N2oo,ooo to orphans and vulnerable children in the local government to enable them live an improved life.
The food items distributed include rice, beans, maize, palm oil,milk and infant formula.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Project Manager, Kwara State Aids Control Agency (KWASACA), Dr. Johnson Oyeniyi, who also performed the distribution, said the agency is working with LACA to strengthen the capacity of families to provide quality family-based care and support for vulnerable children across the state.
He called on all to educate the people of Asa Local Government Area especially Aids victims on the need to come out for treatment, adding appropriate time.
Oyeniyi said he was in the council to show solidarity with LACA desk officer and supervise the distribution of the food items to the orphans, pointing out that the packages are being distributed across the 16 local government areas of the state.
In her address, the Asa Local Government Desk Officer, Hajia Ibidun Ajelanwa, said LACA provided the items to improve the quality of life and wellbeing of the orphan and vulnerable children in the area.
She thanked the agency for its concern about the health of the -vulnerable, adding that the administration of Muftau Yahaya in Asa prioritizes the health of the people.
The representative of the chairman of the local government area, Hon. Yusuf Abdulkadri commended the initiative of both KWASACA and LACA, saying that the programme would always be the suffering of the people.
