Date: 2015-02-05

The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has condemned the indiscriminate attacks on its members barely few days to the general election describing it as barbaric and ungodly to the wellbeing of the people of the state.

The party stated this in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Cheif Rex Olawoye, in reaction to the attack on a party chieftain and House of Assembly candidate for Edu local government area, Mallam Mohammed Guyeji, and three other PDP members at the early hours of Thursday (today).

According to him, "it has become the antics of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Kwara State chapter to inflict attack on our members in a desperate attempt to retain power despite their il-performance. Let it therefore be on record that Mallam Guyeji was attacked at about 2.30am of today while returning from campaign rally by some hoodlums suspected to be APC members.

"They were shot in their vehicle and they sustained serious injuries. They have since been taken to a private hospital for medical attention. This condemnable, unwanted frivolous , and questionable act is an abuse on the fundamental human right to life of our members.

He also maintained that the APC attacked another mosque in Isapa, EKiti local government area of Kwara state on Wednesday wounding a tiler who was working while the advance team of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed who was shooting the sporadically to scare the people of the community.

Olawoye however described the claims by APC that its members were attacked by the PDP as a foul play and blatant lies in an attempt to score cheap political points, propaganda and sympathy even as he advised the general public to disregard the claims.

He therefore urged security agents to provide adequate protection for the lives and property of the people of the state in the face daylight threat and intimidation from the APC before, during and after the general elections.
