...'Kwara judicial workers still on strike'
Kwara State chapter of the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) said yesterday that it has not pulled out of the strike, contrary to reports in some quarters.
Judicial workers across the country on Monday embarked on an indefinite strike to demand autonomy.
State Chairman of JUSUN, Mrs. Folake Laaro, in a chat with Daily Trust said members have complied totally with the strike as declared by the national leadership of the union.
"All our issues with the state government have been resolved. The strike was declared by our national body and we have to comply with the directive," she said.
Daily Trust correspondent reports that workers in the state have so far complied with the strike, as all the courts have remain shut.
Meanwhile, the state chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Farouk Akanbi, has called on the government and JUSUN to reach a compromise, so as to alleviate the suffering of inmates.
"And there is no compromise other than for the federal government to implement the decision of the court, since we say this is a government that believes in the rule of law. It is a strike that could have been prevented," he said.
